We are based at 51 Northbrook Road, Worthing. Third generation, family run, and one team for the whole job from footings to final coat.

A Worthing builder, working on Worthing homes

Rockshore Building Group is a family run building company with its base at 51 Northbrook Road in Worthing. We are the third generation of the family in the trade, with 65 years behind the name and over 30 years of combined on-site experience across the team. Joe runs the jobs, so the person who prices your work is the person you see on site.

Worthing is our home town, which is the practical difference on a job like this. We know the roads, the parking, the tip runs and the local supply merchants. If something needs picking up mid-morning it gets picked up mid-morning, not the day after. If a question comes up on site, we are ten minutes away, not an hour up the A27.

We take on everything from a single-storey rear extension to a full house renovation, and we do the trades ourselves: carpentry and joinery, electrics, plumbing and heating, groundwork, rendering, flooring and roofing. That means you are not chasing five different contractors and holding the programme together yourself.

Worthing at a glance

Worthing is our home town. The yard is here, the team lives here, and a job in Worthing is a ten minute run rather than an hour up the A27.

We are based at 51 Northbrook Road in Worthing and we cover Worthing as part of our normal patch, not as a special trip. That is the practical difference: the same faces each morning, materials when we say, and Joe able to stand in the room with you if a decision needs making.

Built for Worthing housing stock

Worthing is a mixed town to build in and every era brings its own habits. We work on all of it:

  • Victorian and Edwardian terraces around the town centre and Tarring. Solid walls, lath and plaster, older drainage and neighbouring party walls that need proper notice and care.
  • 1930s semis and detached homes in Broadwater, Durrington and West Worthing. Usually good candidates for a rear extension, a side infill or a loft conversion because of the roof pitch.
  • Seafront and town flats, where the work is internal, access is tight and the job has to be run quietly and cleanly around other residents.
  • Newer estate housing, where the shell is straightforward but the finish is what people notice, so the kitchen, the bathroom and the joinery carry the job.

Older Worthing homes rarely run square and rarely match the drawings. We survey before we price rather than after, so the quote you get is the quote we work to.

Why using a local team matters

Most of the complaints people have about builders come down to two things: nobody turning up, and nobody taking responsibility. Being local fixes the first. Doing all the trades in house fixes the second.

  • One team for the whole job. You are not booking a plumber, a sparks and a plasterer around each other, and nobody is waiting on anyone else.
  • Tidy sites. Worthing streets are close together. We keep the skip, the deliveries and the dust under control, sweep up at the end of the day and speak to the neighbours before we start.
  • Building control. We work directly with the local authority building inspectors, so the structure, insulation, drainage and fire safety are signed off as we go and your work meets UK building regulations.
  • Insurance and standards. Comprehensive insurance as standard, a City & Guilds badge on the vans, and regular training on fire safety, insulation, air quality and health and safety.

We are rated 10 out of 10 on Checkatrade, with 10s across quality of work, reliability and communication. We have been Checkatrade members since April 2025 and the work is covered by their £1,000 guarantee. You can read more on our reviews page.

FAQs

Common questions

Where in Worthing are you based?

51 Northbrook Road, Worthing, West Sussex. We cover the whole town and the surrounding West Sussex villages, and we do take work further afield when it suits both sides. Call 01903 411992 or 07949 172906 and we will arrange a visit.

My house is in a Worthing conservation area. Can you still extend it?

Usually yes, but the rules are tighter. In a conservation area, or on a listed building, permitted development rights are often restricted and materials, window styles and rear alterations get looked at more closely. We will tell you at the quote stage what consents we think you need, and we work with your planning department and the local authority building inspector so nothing gets built twice.

Do you handle the building regulations side?

Yes. Full project management is part of what we do. We work directly with the local-authority building inspectors, arrange the inspections at the right stages and make sure the structure, insulation, drainage and fire safety all meet UK building regulations.

What about parking and skips on a narrow terraced street?

We sort it before we start. That means checking permit requirements with the council, booking a skip or a grab lorry for the right day rather than leaving one sat outside for weeks, and keeping the van count on the street to a minimum. We also give the neighbours a heads-up before noisy work such as breaking out or steel lifts.

Do you do the plumbing, electrics and plastering yourselves?

Yes. Carpentry and joinery, electrical work, plumbing and heating, groundwork, rendering, flooring and roofing are all done by our own team. You get one team and one point of contact for the whole job instead of juggling separate contractors.

Are you insured, and is there any guarantee?

We carry comprehensive insurance as standard. We are also Checkatrade members, rated 10 out of 10, and our work is covered by Checkatrade’s £1,000 guarantee. Quotes are free and there is no obligation.
