Third-generation builders with 65 years in the trade
Rockshore Building Group is a family-run building company based in Worthing, working across West Sussex. One team runs the whole job, start to finish.
A family business, three generations deep
The name on the van is the family that turns up.
Rockshore Building Group Ltd is run by the third generation of the same building family. There are 65 years in the trade behind us and more than 30 years of combined on-site experience in the team working today. Joe leads the jobs, so you have one person who knows every part of your build and answers the phone when you ring.
We are based at 51 Northbrook Road, Worthing, and most of our work is within a short drive: Worthing, Goring, Ferring, Lancing and the villages inland. We also take work further afield, including London, when the job is right for us.
Most of what we do is domestic: extensions, loft conversions, new builds and full refurbishments on houses people are still living in, or want to move into by a certain date. That shapes how we work. Tidy sites, clear dates, and no surprises on the invoice.
Built the way we would build our own
A building family passes down more than tools. It passes down standards. We were taught to set out properly, to keep the site swept, to talk to the neighbours before the scaffold goes up, and to fix the thing that is 5mm out rather than hope nobody notices.
That is why we take on a limited number of jobs at a time. You get the same faces on site each morning and the same person managing the programme. If something needs a decision, you hear it from us that day, not a fortnight later when it has become a problem.
- One point of contact from first visit to handover
- Full project management included, not charged as an extra
- Comprehensive insurance as standard
- Honest pricing, written down, with any changes agreed before we do them

One team for the whole job
You do not have to line up a carpenter, an electrician, a plumber and a groundworker and then hope their dates match. We carry those trades ourselves and we programme them in the right order.
- Carpentry and joinery, including roofs, staircases and oak framing
- Electrical work
- Plumbing and heating
- Groundwork and drainage
- Rendering
- Flooring
- Roofing
It means fewer gaps in the programme and nobody blaming the last trade for what they have found. See the full list on our services page, or look at what we have finished recently in our work.

The standards behind the work
The parts of a build you cannot see are the parts that matter most.
How a project runs with us
Six steps from first phone call to handing back your keys.
- First visit and survey. We come out, look at the property, and listen to what you actually want. We measure up, check access, look at the drains and the roof line, and tell you straight away if something is going to be difficult or expensive.
- Written quote. You get a free, no obligation quote broken down so you can see what is included. If there are choices that will move the price, kitchens, glazing, brick or render, we set them out rather than hide them in a lump sum.
- Drawings and approvals. Where the job needs planning permission or building regulations approval, we point you to the right drawings and structural calculations and deal with the council alongside you. Nothing starts until the approvals are in place.
- Programme. Before we start we agree a start date and a running order for the trades, plus the lead times on anything that has to be ordered early, such as steels, windows or a kitchen.
- Build. Our team is on site working to that programme. You get updates as we go, inspection visits at the key stages, and any change is priced and agreed in writing before we carry it out.
- Sign-off and handover. Final building control inspection, snagging list worked through, site cleared, and we walk you round the finished job so you know where the isolators, stopcocks and controls are.
What customers say on Checkatrade
Independently collected, not written by us.
We are rated 10 out of 10 on Checkatrade, with 10 out of 10 for quality of work, reliability and communication. We have been a Checkatrade member since April 2025, and work booked through them is covered by Checkatrade’s £1,000 guarantee.
You will have seen the vans
Worthing based, working across West Sussex.

Being local is not just a line on a website. It means we know which streets have restricted access for a lorry, which roads need a permit for a skip, and how the ground behaves when you dig near the seafront compared with up on the Downs. It also means we are ten minutes away if something needs looking at after we have finished.
We cover Worthing, Rustington, East Preston, Findon, Storrington, Lewes and the wider West Sussex area. See the full list on our areas page.
Common questions
Who will I actually be dealing with?
Joe leads the work and is your main point of contact from the first visit through to handover. You will not be passed between a salesman, an estimator and a site manager who have never spoken to each other.
Are you insured?
Yes. We carry comprehensive insurance as standard on every job, and we are happy to show you the documents before we start. Work booked through Checkatrade is also covered by their £1,000 guarantee.
Do you handle building regulations and inspections?
Yes. We work directly with local-authority building inspectors and book the inspections at the right stages, so foundations, steels, insulation and drainage are all signed off before they are covered up. We will also tell you early if your job needs planning permission.
How far do you travel?
Most of our work is in Worthing and the surrounding West Sussex towns and villages. We do take jobs further afield, including in London, so it is worth asking even if you are outside the area.
Does a quote cost anything?
No. Quotes are free and there is no obligation. We come out, survey the property properly and give you a written price based on what we have seen, not a rough figure over the phone. Call 01903 411992 or use the contact page.
